Alleles in a supertype shared overlapping binding specificity and peptides that bound with high affinity to a given HLA class I molecule frequently bound to multiple HLA molecules belonging to the same supertype. these peptieds are called supertype-specific binders,which are the prime targets for vaccine and immunotherapy development because they are relevant to higher proportions of the human population.
